Critical Need for Federated Identity
With the ever increasing mergers and acquisitions happening in the global world and the need to get the heterogenous systems to work quickly at the merged companies, the need for federated identity is getting critical. Add to the M&A phenomenon, the growing relationship with partners and customers implies the need for users from outside the secure domain to access resources.
SAML specification is doing a commendable job in addressing this issue.

PingFederate Web Services Provides WS-Trust Security Token Service (STS)
Ping Identity announced that PingFederate Web Services 2.6 is available for immediate download from its Web site. Now packaged as an optional add-on module for PingFederate, Ping Identity's industry-leading standalone federated identity software, PingFederate Web Services 2.6 adds support for the OASIS WS-Trust 1.3 standard, as well as the ability to create and validate CA SiteMinder SMSESSION tokens.
